It was a fun day to be a kid around here.

Can You Guess What Happened?
A picture is worth a thousand words, or in this case just two.....
OH NOOOOOO!
The night before, we were heading to bed, Paul looked at the cake, covered in it's pretty hand painted dome lid, and had a thought. "What if Becca were to climb out of her bed in the middle of the night knowing that the cake was sitting in the dark kitchen all alone and help herself to it? I will hide it in the oven where she will not think to look for it." Let me answer that question for you, no, she has not been known to be a middle of the night kitchen roamer.
Not even I thought to check the oven for a pink birthday cake as I turned it on to start cooking dinner. What IS that smell? It's familiar, kinda sweet, but wait, that smells like a plastic spoon that has melted on the bottom of the dishwasher. I thought the dishwasher was already emptied. It has been. Did someone light a candle and blow it out? And if you did you're in trouble because you know you never do that.
Alas, I discovered the smoke filled oven and ran the melting mess outside. No more birthday cake, and no more pretty cake cover.

...More Birthday Fun
My sweet friend Nicole invited us to her 4 yr olds party at our new McDonald's for lunch. I told her it was Cadie's birthday too. Well, after getting permission from her bday girl, she shared her cake and added Cadie's name. Isn't that sweet.

This is the 4yr old Birthday Girl, Sarah...she's sweet!

Of course Megan met us there after her 1/2 day of school was finished
Happy Birthday
Happy 10th Birthday Cadie!
About a year ago we began celebrating
"Birthdays for Breakfast"
"Birthdays for Breakfast"
We didn't want to wait for Daddy to get home at 7pm, before we began celebrating, so we have the party 1st thing in the morning before he goes to work.
The night before, after the kids are in bed, I get everything set for the 7am party. We begin the morning by singing Happy Birthday to that child, this of course wakes everyone up. The other kids quickly run into the kitchen to see things all set in place. Let the party begin! First the BD child opens cards, gifts, we sing, blow out candles, and have cake, punch and ice cream for breakfast.
...we have been known to slip an egg or bowl of cereal to a
party goer, if they ask.
This has been alot of fun for all of us. I know it is something that my children will fondly remember as they look back over their birthdays.
Her oldest brother gave her "10 Free Shots" from his BB gun...
Isn't she cute?
Hugs and Kisses for their big sister
Cole was anxious for Cadie to claim her birthday gift.

Baking
Ok, so this morning as I was brushing my teeth I noticed the dental floss in the drawer and it reminded me of something I've wanted to do for years.
That's right, make cinnamon rolls from scratch!
You use the floss to gently cut the rolls with out squishing them all together.
Beautiful, whole wheat cinnamon rolls...mmmm
UH-OH! What happened here?
...This is what happens when "someone" gets in a hurry and grabs the pastry cutter to get the show on the road (love you Megan ; )
Finally!
This was exciting news around the house this morning. Riley (6) lost his front tooth. You can't imagine how special this was for him. Now he is just like his 2 older brothers...yeah, it is a big deal.
Look at how big that hole is! It won't be long until the other front tooth is out...What a fun Christmas card picture it will be this year.
